By placing readers at the key points such entrance and exit of the terminals or baggage halls, the airport can determine how many luggage carts or wheelchairs have entered or left each area. This, for example, enables luggage cart management teams to see whether sufficient luggage carts are available where required and understand which are used more than others and therefore provide the correct maintenance they need.
This technology can also be used to forecast the flow of passengers through an airport and how often they use a luggage cart or wheelchair and where they collect them from.
